Pixel-Gate Light
Description
Pixel-Gate – usind videosignals to control LED-systems
The Pixel-Gate is a high-performance interface between a video source and an LED system. It processes digital video signals in real time and converts them directly into Art-Net™ control data for LED installations or other DMX-compatible devices. Supporting both DVI and—optionally—SDI signals, the system is suitable for use with computers, media servers, and professional broadcast and TV studio equipment.
Thanks to hardware pixel mapping, the Pixel-Gate handles resource-intensive pixel calculations directly within dedicated hardware. This significantly relieves the load on media servers, allowing them to focus entirely on content playback. When combined with the PixelPatch software, LED pixel mapping is implemented with exceptional efficiency and clarity—facilitating faster system setup and ensuring clearly defined interfaces between different trades.
Thanks to low latency, system-wide synchronization, and 60 fps compatibility, the Pixel-Gate is ideally suited for demanding media facades, TV productions, immersive installations, and dynamic lighting and video environments. Image data is converted into Schnick-Net packets, with an option for Art-Net™ output as well.
The Pixel-Gate was used, among other places, in the installation "Pixelwald" by artist Pipilotti Rist at the Kunsthaus Zürich. There, over 3,000 individually controllable LED light points were driven in real time via video signal and combined to form an immersive, three-dimensional video installation.
The Pixel-Gate Light handles 64 universes with ease.
You can find further versions of the Pixel Gates on our website under LED Controllers.
