FLYT

Lighting Installation in an Oslo Lobby

Our client Void was invited to create a light installation on the ceiling of the entrance lobby of the recently renovated Queen Eufemias Gate 8 in the heart of Oslo's financial district.

The installation would support the client's vision for the building while giving visitors a sense of exclusivity and high-tech.

Flyt (“Flow”) is the name of the business philosophy and holistic concept of Braathen Eiendom real estate management. Through infrastructure and modular systems, they provide their tenants with a high degree of flexibility.

Building on this, Void has developed signage, graphics and installations that have their origins in a strictly rectangular grid.

Animations based on physical fluid simulations add an organic expression that symbolizes the flow and seamlessness that Braathen offers its customers.

The ceiling is an individual, exclusive work for the reception lobby. The 85 square meter installation is a perfectly projected square network of 4700 acrylic rods.

They are illuminated by P series LED luminaires installed above the acoustic ceiling panels and form an undulating landscape that dissolves the ceiling. A 3D sensor detects the presence of people and emits light waves through the rods accordingly.

Customized software gives Void control over each individual light. The installation has a color option for special events or branding opportunities for clients and their tenants.
